Ron Engels

Gilpin County Commissioner

District 1

We have done a great job in Gilpin County at staying safe and healthy. Since mid-March, there have been only 18 COVID-19 cases in the county.  Because most  everyone is staying masked, socially distanced and washing hands frequently, Gilpin County became one of three in the state to be granted Protect Your Neighbor status. We now have our casinos open at half capacity, allowing them to be successful, and generating tax revenue for the county. Please continue to wear your mask, stay distanced and wash your hands often. Together, we will make it through this global pandemic.

Re-elect County Commissioner

      Ron Engels on November 3!

Commissioner Engels successfully led the team of public health and casino industry leaders to get our casinos back open and generating tax revenue for the county.

He modernized the county's business processes, bringing building permit applications and approvals online. County department reports are also online, creating transparency in local government.

He holds seats on several state boards and commissions, allowing him to advocate for Gilpin County with state decision makers.
